Penn College prioritizes student development and success. The ‘Student Alert’ is an important tool that the campus community can use to identify students who are facing academic or personal challenges and connect them with assistance they need.
How to Submit a Student Alert
Use the form to the right. Determine the tier or referral category that best aligns with the student’s situation. If possible, provide appropriate details on the student’s academic, personal, and emotional status. Staff will review the alert or referral and reach out to the student.
Tier 1: minor concerns, such as classroom performance and college adjustment
Tier 2: academic concerns, struggles with college transition, and moderate financial difficulties
Tier 3: ongoing academic concerns impacting performance, newer or worsening college transition concerns, and continued financial concerns
Tier 4: danger of withdrawing from college, need to connect with resources, and critical personal matters (basic needs)
Referral: goes directly to the appropriate office for direct outreach
Each of us plays an important role is student success.

Intensifying concerns or repeat behavior that may need additional, directed intervention. The issue has been addressed with the student, but the situation is not improving. Center for Academic Excellence will lead support system toward a plan for success or management of concerts.
Urgent matters that need immediate attention to prevent the student from withdrawing from the College/dropping or being dropped from class. Also use for students experiencing severe hardship (food/housing insecurity). Center for Academic Excellence will lead the support system toward resolution.

If you have any reason to believe the student may be at risk for suicide or harming others, call Counseling Services directly at (570)327-4765 (during business hours) or the Penn College Police (570)321-5555 (after hours).
